The second annual Lenoir County Veterans Fair is approaching and looking to provide opportunities for those who served in the military.
The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Vernon Park Mall. More than 30 vendors will be there to assist veterans looking for job referrals, applying for jobs, speaking with college advisors and listening to representatives speak about health concerns. Other important issues will be addressed.
Victor Kosinski — a Veteran’s employment consultant with the Division of Workforce Solutions — said the number of vendors will be beneficial in making sure all questions are answered.
“Everything will be under one roof, which is the beauty of the event,” Kosinski said. “We’ll have people from EastPoint, Vocational Rehabilitation, Mega Force and Select Staffing. The N.C. Veterans Affairs will have most of its staff there and Lenoir Community College will also be represented, as well as many other organizations. Someone who has different concerns can get them all addressed in one day.”
The fair is not just closed to veterans. Kosinski said there will be some vendors who will also cater to civilians.
“Right now, there will be five or six employers that will be set up,” Kosinski said. “Still, the vast majority of employers and agencies will be for veterans who need it.”
If a veteran can’t make the event, a family or friend can go and pick up helpful information.
Overall, Kosinski believes the fair will be a major benefit for veterans.
“There are a whole range of people and that’s the great thing about it,” Kosinski said. “No matter what the problem is, there should be at least one person at the event that can answer a question.”
The event is free to the public.
