College students and other young people are planning a mass march around the Executive Mansion to complain about voting changes approved by the Republican-led North Carolina legislature. But Gov. Pat McCrory won't be there to hear them.

His office said the governor is attending a Republican Governors Association meeting Monday in Charleston, S.C., and wasn't going to be home during the latest Moral Monday protest. Protesters led by the state chapter of the NAACP argue the elections overhaul law signed by McCrory will make it harder for older people, college students and other groups to vote.

The governor has touted a photo identification requirement in the new law. It also contains more than 40 other provisions, including an end to same-day voter registration and trimming early voting by a week.
