The Lenoir County Agricultural Fair held its first youth demolition derby on Saturday, as drivers competed for a $200 cash prize and trophy. Ten youths battled it out in front of hundreds of fair goers on the mud track for about 45 minutes until there was only one driver and car left running. 13 year-old Hope Thornton of Mt. Olive steered her way to victory. Today's Demolition Derby starts at 3 p.m. and the gates open at 1 p.m.
