A Snow Hill man on probation headed back to jail last week on gun and drug charges.
“During a license check, (Anthony Jamal Lee) was a front passenger in a vehicle in which the driver was found with drugs on his person,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “When Mr. Lee was told to exit the vehicle, officers found a loaded .45-caliber handgun near the leg area of the seat in which Mr. Lee had just vacated. When searching Mr. Lee, officers found marijuana, rolling papers and digital scales.”
Lee received a sentence of 24 months’ probation on April 30 for felony carry of a concealed weapon, misdemeanor carry of a concealed weapon and misdemeanor operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.
His arrest Thursday came in the 200 block of West Gordon Street at 1:41 a.m. — law enforcement believes Lee was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time. He received a $40,300 bond.
Lee’s scheduled to appear in Lenoir County District Court on Oct. 3.
