SNOW HILL — An 11-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were picked up by Snow Hill police Tuesday after a break-in at a residence in town.

Working with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Jeff Peele investigated an activated security alarm at 305 Greenridge Road shortly after noon.

When Peele pulled into the driveway of the home, he saw a boy running from the back of the house into the woods, Police Chief John Rae said.

Two Razor kick scooters were laying in the yard, and deputies placed them into a patrol car.

A window at the back of the house was broken and the security alarm was ripped off the wall, Rae said.

Around the same time, a neighbor at 300 Greenridge Road discovered her car door was not closed tight and an item in the car had been moved.

It did not appear anything had been taken from either location, except possibly a small amount of change from the car.

Rae said he had seen a boy and a girl riding Razor scooters near the ball park and skateboard park on Greenridge Road prior to the alarm activation. He said he had also seen the two children riding on the weekend.

“When I came back through,” he said, “I saw a juvenile standing in the yard at 105 Greenridge Road. I recognized him as the juvenile I saw at the Farm Bureau this past Sunday morning.”

Rae was able to locate where the children lived because he said he figured they lived near the Farm Bureau. He could not provide more information because of their ages.

“The case is closed pending juvenile petitions,” Rae said.
