Keeping it in the family
Jimmy and Gail Jarman have grandchildren who believe in keeping things in the family. When the Jarman’s daughter, Dawn Hunter — now principal at Northwest Elementary School — began her working career while in school at the Piggly Wiggly in Jackson Heights when it opened, she obviously started a trend.
Now, her children — Jamie Hunter, a senior at UNC, and Joseph Hunter, a senior at South Lenoir High School — are working at “the Pig” on Highway 70. Their younger brothers — Jacob, 11, and JT, 10 — hope to start their careers at ‘the Pig’ when they are old enough.
Their cousin Jessi Jarman, a South Lenoir junior, works at the Jackson Heights Piggly Wiggly.
