A Sheriff’s Ball was held at Select Foods on Saturday filled with dancing and music by Carl Newton and the 5th Avenue band.
The event also included live and silent auctions and a dinner provided by Select Foods.
More than $10,000 was raised for RADD (Raising Awareness for the Developmentally Disabled), which directly benefits clients that live in Lenoir and Greene counties.
“I am so very thankful for those that bought tickets, the generous donations, and those who helped sponsor the event,” Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill said. “It was a wonderful night that will help an organization that does so much for developmentally disabled individuals of Lenoir and Greene counties.”
The funds will enable the organization to enhance current programs and offer new activities and events.
“The response was overwhelming,” Judy Ellis, executive director of RADD said, “and on behalf of all the individuals that benefit so much from RADD’s programs, I would like to sincerely thank Sheriff Hill, the committee, the volunteers, businesses and persons that donated auction items, the many people that attended the Ball and those that made donations. What a night it was!”
Plans are to make the ball an annual event.
