Boys’ basketball:
BETHEL 58, BEREAN BAPTIST 27
The Bethel varsity boys won big over the visiting Berean Baptist Bulldogs Tuesday. The Trojans were led by Davon Edwards, who scored 32 points. Hunter Truett added 13 and Ben Potter had 10 points for Bethel. The Trojans will travel to Southeastern College from Nov. 21-23 for an invitational tournament.
NORTH LENOIR 67, C.B. AYCOCK 45
Javonta King had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Hawks defeated C.B. Aycock in Tuesday’s opener.
Jalen Robinson and Jaquaz Jones also had 11 points, as Landon Letchworth and John Carlton had 10. Jones, Carlton and Deonte Allen each had eight rebounds. The Hawks had 40 total rebound to C.B. Aycock’s 27.
The Hawks were 4-22 from the free throw line, still winning in the opener.
NL (1-0) plays Friday at Southern Wayne.
Girls’ basketball:
C.B. AYCOCK 52, NORTH LENOIR 24
Junior Quoya Porter had a team-high eight points for North Lenoir, as the Hawks (0-1) fell to C.B. Aycock in the season opener Tuesday. The JV girls also lost to Aycock with a score of 28-17. Rahziyah Hutchins had 17 points for the JV Hawks.
