Two apartments lost their refrigerators and water heaters in a burglary sometime between Sunday and Monday.

According to two Kinston Department of Public Safety reports, unknown suspects broke into two apartments located in the 1100 block of Harper Road between 7 p.m. Sunday and 4:35 p.m. Monday.

Thieves inflicted a combined $200 of damage on a two doors, and made off with two $500 GE refrigerators and two $400 water heaters.

In one apartment, they caused $200 in laminate flooring damage from a water leak and in another apartment caused $250 damage to a living room ceiling.

“The person would have to have a truck to be able to do that, and I would imagine, unless he’s a very big individual, more than one person would be carrying that stuff and loading it on to something,” KDPS spokesman Woody Spencer said. “A 40-gallon water heater is very unwieldy and so is a refrigerator.”
