A probation officer’s recent check on a man Friday allegedly led to the discovery of 44 bags of crack and a 2-gram crack rock.
“An officer, along with a probation officer, initiated contact with (Cory Raefeld) Fields on the 400 block of North Adkin Street,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “Mr. Fields is on probation, and subject to warrantless searches by a probation officer. So, they did a search and found 44 individual baggies of crack, and one large crack rock.”
Fields, 37, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
According to a public database search, his last convictions all came from misdemeanors.
Fields is due in Lenoir County District Court on Dec. 2.
