Walgreens to have health screenings

The Walgreens Way to Wellness Bus Tour and Food Drive will happen from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at 2201 N. Herritage St., Kinston.

The tour, a partnership between Walgreens and ENC Food Bank, includes free health tests, assessments, education and consulting for uninsured adults who visit. Adults 18 years and older will receive a free flu shot voucher redeemable at Walgreens pharmacies.

The free health tests, valued at more than $100, measure 10 key indicators that include total cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, body composition, skeletal muscle, resting metabolism, visceral fat, real body age and body weight.

The tests are administered by certified wellness staff and can be completed in approximately 20 minutes.

All food donations will benefit the ENC Food Bank.

The Walgreens Way to Well Health Tour is a program dedicated to providing free prevention and early detection health services to some of the nation’s most underserved communities.

The tour is a component of the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment, which began in 2011 as a four-year, $100 million initiative to improve the everyday health of Americans nationwide.

It is partially funded by customers who support the Walgreens wellness services mission by purchasing Walgreens brand health and wellness products.

Beginning Feb. 1 through December 2013, 1 cent from the purchase of every Walgreens brand health and wellness product — up to $3 million annually — will support bringing preventive wellness services to local communities.
