LA GRANGE — There were no injuries after a fire broke out near a residence in La Grange on Tuesday.
Wesley Sutton, Chief of the La Grange Fire Department, said the fire occurred in a motorcycle repair shop at a house on 3311 N.C. 903 North in La Grange.
“When we got here, the majority of the fire was in the attic of the building and our guys did a good job of getting the fire under control,” he said.
Scanner reports stated that an explosion had occurred at the scene, but Sutton said this was not the case.
“There were some tires that were popping, but there weren’t any explosions,” he said.
Home owner John Sanford declined to comment on the events surrounding the fire.
Sutton said an investigation is ongoing into what exactly started the fire in the first place.
The La Grange Fire Department and Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene.
