Couple celebrates 35 years

Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Kirby of Kinston celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary Nov. 4, 2013, with a week at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia.

The couple has five children, Tracy Edmundson and Wendy Oliver, both of La Grange, Perry Dyer of Galena, Ohio, Tiffany Riggs of Hubert, and the late Marnie Lynn Dyer, former 1992 Ms. Kinston; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Kirby is the former Elizabeth M. Dyer of Portland, Maine. She is a retired senior claims assistant for the State Farm claims office in Greenville.

Mr. Kirby, formerly of Sumpter, S.C., was head of research and development and retired from Hampton Industries after 30 years.

The couple was married Nov. 4, 1978, at Queen Street United Methodist Church in Kinston by the Rev. Edward P. Armstrong.
