Boys’ basketball:
GREENE CENTRAL 66, JONES SENIOR 58 0T
Greene Central improved to a 3-1 record Tuesday with its second win of the season over Jones Senior in overtime. The Rams outscored Jones Senior 10-2 in the extra period.
Brandon Belcher led GC scoring with 22 points. Jones Senior’s K.D. McCall led the Trojans with 21. Quante Smith led the Rams with 23 rebounds, while Javan Rozelle had 16. Belcher, Nisere Warren and Doreon Suggs each had 12 boards. Smith got all of GC’s blocks with seven.
The Rams had 35 assists, led by Belcher’s eight.
GC (3-1) went to C.B. Aycock, while Jones Senior (1-3) travelled to Spring Creek Wednesday.
FARMVILLE CENTRAL 80, NORTH LENOIR 70
Jalen Robinson led the Hawks with 16 points as they fell by 10 to Farmville Central Tuesday. Robinson also had six assists and four rebounds. Jaquez Jones led NL with five rebounds and seven assists, adding 12 points to his line. Farmville Central’s leading scorer was Josh Jones with 22 points.
The Hawks had 23 rebounds to FC’s 29 and shot 4-of-17 from the free throw line.
Luke Jackson (11) and Javonta King (10) were the other Hawks to score in double figures.
North Lenoir (2-2)plays host to Greenville Rose tonight.
Girls’ basketball:
FARMVILLE CENTRAL 53, NORTH LENOIR 51
The Hawks came up short at Farmville Central Tuesday. North Lenoir’s scoring was led by junior Quoya Porter with 15 points. Mikayla Kremer had 14 for the Hawks.
FC’s Destiny Foskey dominated the Hawks down the stretch, scoring 14 of her 24 total points in the fourth quarter.
NL (1-3) hosts Greenville Rose tonight.
Wrestling:
AYDEN-GRIFTON 63, NORTH LENOIR 18
The North Lenoir wrestling team dropped two conference matches Tuesday night at Ayden-Grifton. In the first dual, the Hawks faced the Chargers and lost 63-18. The second dual of the night pitted the young NL team against Greene Central. The Hawks flew high but came up just short of the team’s first win of the season losing, 45-36.
