'Sing-along' Sunday / Names in the News

Terrell Fields and The Community Voices Worship and Arts ministry choir will have its 4th Annual

Christmas Concert and Congregation Sing-Along at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at First Missionary Baptist Church, 801 E. Gordon St.  

The choir was established in 2010.

The goal of the Commuity Voices Worship and Arts Ministry is to inspire recruit choir members from across Eastern North Carolina, from  all types of denominations, to pursue excellence in performance with an attitude of humility, purity, sensitivity and strength.
The group always welcomes instrumentalist, vocalists and mime dancers.

 The Choir has sponsored music worships with trained skills for musicians, music leaders and choir directors.

The choir has also sponsored concerts in the area with national recording artists such as J. W. & Higher Prayze, Salvation and Deliverance Choir and others. The choir has also rendered music and fellowship with other local music groups such as Terrell Powell and The Powerful Praise Choral, D. J. Fox and the Voices of Triumph, The United American Free Will Baptist Tabernacle Choir and others.

 This year the concert will feature two concerts.

The first will feature the choir in concert and the second will be a congregation sing-along in which the congregation will be the choir. Anyone can lead the songs, including Christmas carols or hymns from the congregation.

There is no rehearsal or audition needed.

‘Queen Street Christmas’ next weekend

 

Queen Street Church will present “A Queen Street Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 14th and Sunday, Dec. 15th at 6  p.m. each night.  This concert will include Robert Shaw’s “The Many Moods of Christmas” which is full of favorite carols for choir and orchestra including “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Silent Night,” and “Joy to the World.” The choir will also perform, “The First Nowell” by Mack Wilberg — a favorite work for the choir and audience alike. 

Performing will be the Queen Street Chancel Choir — a group of 50 gifted singers accompanied by a 27-piece orchestra. The choir and orchestra are under the direction of Jacob Mewborn, director of music ministries for Queen Street Church.

The Kinston Music Society String Orchestra will entertain the audience with prelude music beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will include selections arranged for the Mannhiem Steamroller orchestra as well as a Christmas sing-a-long.

The members of Queen Street Church invite you to stay for a reception following each night. There is no admission charge, but guests are encouraged to arrive early to attain seats. Doors open at 5 p.m. each night.

Queen Street Church is located at 500 N. Queen St. in downtown Kinston beside the library.
