Today, patrons at the Lenoir County Farmer’s Market can make a difference in a pet’s life as well as shop.
The Lenoir County SPCA will be at the market today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with animals ready for adoption.
Farmer’s Market manager Pat Jenkins said she is happy to have the SPCA hold the event there.
“We’re certainly sympathetic toward animals and the SPCA’s adopt a pet program,” Jenkins said. “We hope people come down and give pets a good home for Christmas.”
SPCA shelter director Lisa Wrzesinski said there will be good representation to assist any resident with inquiries.
“We’ll have volunteers out there who are experienced enough to answer just about any question someone has for them,” Wrzesinski said.
For those who cannot adopt one, but want to support the SPCA, Wrzesinski said there are additional options.
“People can give $10 to sponsor a pet, and we’ll give them an ornament with a picture of the adoptable animal,” Wrzeinski said. “For the holidays, we’ll make sure all of the animals here have homecooked meals and extra treats to make sure they all have a good Christmas.”
For those who cannot make the event at the Farmer’s Market, the SPCA will be operating under normal hours
“Of course we’ll be open from 12 to 4, so people can see the other animals we have here,” Wrzesinski said.
