Boys’ basketball:
FARMVILLE CENTRAL 71, GREENE CENTRAL 55
Greene Central (4-2) fell by 16 points in Friday’s game against Farmville Central. Brandon Belcher led the Rams’ scoring with 11 points, while Kevin Ormond scored in double figures with 10. Quante Smith had seven blocks for GC, and Doreon Suggs had a team-high eight rebounds. The Rams had 20 turnovers and 14 assists, while shooting 62 percent from the field.
The Rams host C.B. Aycock tonight.
Wrestling:
North Lenoir’s wrestling team traveled to North Pitt over the weekend to participate in the 22nd Annual Pierce-Davis Memorial Tournament, and the Hawks tied for 18th place overall with a total of 42 team points. There were 22 teams from Eastern North Carolina competing and over 200 wrestlers battling for individual titles. It was the young team’s first individual tournament of the season.
North Lenoir’s next match will be Thursday against South Lenoir, marking the Hawks’ first home game of the season.
