Two men who may have been smoking marijuana in a parked car Monday face drug charges after a narcotics complaint.
“(The officers) did say when they opened the door a cloud of smoke came out,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety.
Two officers reported to the 100 block of West Capitola Avenue around 6:38 p.m., finding three men in a car facing the wrong direction.
“(The suspects) exited the vehicle,” Spencer said. “The officer checked the vehicle and found a container … containing small baggies that came out to about 3 grams of marijuana. And a further search revealed a book bag that contained marijuana pipes and glass jars, digital scales, assorted plastic sandwich bags and about 135 grams of marijuana.”
Brandon Allen Hill, 22, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lewis Adam White Jr., 20, received a citation for possession of marijuana.
The third man wasn’t charged.
Police seized the marijuana, a marijuana pipe, three glass jars valued at $20, a brown book bag valued at $20, digital scales valued at $40 and $5 worth of sandwich bags.
Hill was placed into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $2,500 bond. He’s scheduled to be in Lenoir County District Court on Jan. 6 on the charges listed and an earlier misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge.
