UPDATE: Man reportedly shot in robbery

Three men allegedly forced another inside a residence for the purpose of robbing him — then shot him in the head.

Officers with the Kinston Department of Public Safety found Elijahuan Rashaud Harper, 26, with an injury to his head Harper said was a gunshot wound around 4:40 p.m., Sunday.

According to the KDPS, “Mr. Harper told officers he was approached by three black males while outside of 103 S. Rochelle Blvd. and was forced inside the residence at that address. Mr. Harper said the suspects were ‘demanding stuff.’

“Mr. Harper told officers one suspect had a handgun and shot him in the back of the head. The three suspects then left and Mr. Harper walked to 1103 E. Caswell St. for assistance.”

He was initially transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital for treatment then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Harper was treated and released.
