A teen faces five felony charges related to going through several cars in the Brentwood area early Wednesday morning.

Just after 4:31 a.m., officers with the Kinston Department of Public Safety responded to a call of a breaking and entering in the neighborhood.

“And, when they arrived, they found some broken glass and other things, and they went to check out other areas and found two other vehicles had been broken into,” KDPS spokesman Woody Spencer said.

Solomon Salaam, 18, is suspected of going into three cars in the 1100 block of Briarfield Drive and a car in the 800 block of Carraway Drive. According to KDPS incident reports, the three vehicles were unlocked.

Salaam’s believed to have taken $2.23 from a Nissan Maxima on Briarfield Drive and dumping the glove box contents of a Ford Explorer on Carraway Drive into the floorboard.
