Seven schools to compete in quiz bowl

Teams from seven area high schools will challenge each other in a lively competition of knowledge and wits to decide the champion of the 2013 Public Library Quiz Bowl at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library, 510 N. Queen St.

Meeting to address foster parenting

The Community-Based Services office of Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina will host an informational meeting on foster care and adoption at 6 p.m. Feb. 7. The meeting will be held at Tanglewood Church, 2103 Rouse Road.

More than 14,000 children in North Carolina are in need of supportive, committed foster parents, and B&GH is dedicated to finding and providing training for individuals that wish to participate in this experience. At the very least, two lives will change because of foster parenting — the foster parent and the child.

Foster parents can be single individuals or married couples older than 21, and be with or without children of their own. Anyone interested in learning more about how to become a foster or adoptive parent is encouraged to attend.

For more information on foster parenting, adoption or informational meetings, call 877-211-5322.
