Lenoir Community College Foundation is sponsoring its first Casino Night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday in the Waller Building’s Culinary Arts Center on the LCC campus. Tickets are $50 a person, which covers admission to the event, beverages and hors d’oeuvres, gaming floor and silent auction registration number. Nine community leaders — B.J. Murphy, Debbie Chused, Bobby Merritt, Ed Mills, Bobby Taylor, Bill Ellis, John Marston, Nick Harvey and Tony Sears — will be celebrity dealers as they wheel and deal to benefit the Foundation’s scholarship program. WINE, CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL/Wilmington
Visitors can savor fine wines and gourmet chocolate this weekend at the Coastline Event Center, 503 Nutt St. From 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, a Grand Tasting gala will kick off the event with live music and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Sharp Nine Jazz Ensemble — featuring Nina Repeta, Roger Davis and Madafo Lloyd Wilson — will entertain. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, the wine and chocolate marketplace will feature vintners, chocolatiers and artists offering products for sampling and sale. Goose Creek State Park will present a program at 2 p.m. Sunday about Eastern North Carolina’s naval stores industry. Meet at the Ivey Gut Parking Lot to hike to a relic from the past, a tar kiln.
