MAYSVILLE — Authorities are looking for two suspects accused of breaking into a Maysville grocery store early Wednesday morning and stealing $2,000 worth of cigarettes.
The Piggly Wiggly on Main Street was broken into around 4:30 a.m. Two male suspects threw a brick through the front window, kicked in the door to the cigarette section and took 40 to 50 cartons of smokes, said Anthony Thomas, a detective with the Maysville Police Department.
The suspects are described as white males between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. One suspect was wearing green camouflage pants, sneakers and a gray sweatshirt. The suspect was clad in black from head to toe and possibly wearing a Northface jacket. Both wore gloves and had their faces covered with masks, Thomas said after reviewing surveillance footage of the crime.
The suspects left in a dark-colored Chevrolet Trailblazer with gray trim.
“I could use all the help I can get on this,” Thomas said, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Maysville investigators have been in contact with detectives in New Bern about suspects operating there in a similar fashion, Thomas said.
Crime Stoppers of Onslow County is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest or apprehension in the crime.
