Jamie Patterson Miller of Snow Hill and Michael Corbett Brown III of Wilmington were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9, 2013, at Saint James Parish in Wilmington. The Rev. Ronald George Abrams and the Rev. Caleb James Lee performed the ceremony.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Patrick Miller Jr. of Snow Hill. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Raymond Joseph O’Bryhim of Fredericksburg, Va., and the late Mr. O’Bryhim, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Patrick Miller, who lived in Snow Hill.
The bride is a graduate of Saint Mary’s School and N.C. State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in communications. She earned her master’s degree from N.C. Central University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was presented by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh at the 2001 North Carolina Debutante Ball. She is employed as a speech-language pathologist with Therapy Connections in Wilmington.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Corbett Brown Jr. of Wilmington. He is the grandson of the Honorable and Mrs. James Carroll Fox of Wilmington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Corbett Brown, who lived in Wrightsville Beach.
He is a graduate of New Hanover High School and UNC, where he received a B.A. in economics. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He is a broker with Cape Fear Commercial in Wilmington.
Following a wedding trip to Virgin Gorda, the couple will reside in Wilmington.
The bride’s sister, Barbara Miller Bolt of Wilson, served a matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miller Elizabeth Andrews of Snow Hill, cousin of the bride; Julie Martin Burris, Teran Boyette Canterbury, Meghan Ione Nicholson, Louise Beasley Warenda and Christina Cummings Valkanoff, all of Raleigh; Mary Lauren Carr and Emily Jane Cross of Fayetteville; Ainsley Smith Tayloe of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; and Elizabeth Bannister Hannaford of Salem, Ore.
The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Robert Cowan Brown, brother of the groom; William Richard Gwathmey, Ralph Bertram Williams IV, and William Leaford Williams IV, all of Wilmington; Andrew Bullard Baysden and Wilson Graybill Culp of Charlotte; Jared Fox Brown of Raleigh, brother of the groom; Christopher Cary Bolt, the bride’s brother-in-law, and John Oscar Bolt, the bride’s nephew, both of Wilson; Thomas Berry Taylor of Pauley’s Island, S.C.; and Robert Neill Wessell of New York City.
The bride’s nephew, Patrick Vaden Bolt of Wilson, was ring bearer.
Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Frederick Howard Mohn, soloist; John Sullivan organist; and Harry McLamb, trumpeter.
Mrs. William Herbert Sugg directed the wedding.
Allen Jordan Lee and Lillian Smith Teer served as program attendants.
Stewart Bradshaw Mason and David Murchison Eggleston Jr. served as readers.
Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at the Cape Fear Country Club. On Friday evening, a rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at the Cape Fear County Club, followed by a dance given by friends and family of the bride and groom.
