Jones Youth Roundball Instructional Camp, Inc. is an up and coming sports and education organization for youth. Founded by Roger Jones, it is geared toward serving youth ages 8 to 18 in achieving personal excellence. JYRIC programs are designed to foster discipline, focus, confidence and leadership skills through positive interaction.
An avid sportsman, Jones played basketball for many years. During his college years, he had an opportunity to play semi-professional basketball in England, but a knee injury cut that dream short.
He has coached middle school basketball for the past 19 years and is employed with the N.C. Department of Public Safety as assistant unit administrator for Dobbs Youth Development Center. Over the past 25 years at Dobbs, he has first-hand knowledge of what can happen to children who are troubled, unmotivated and lack self-esteem. That’s why developing after school tutoring, mentoring, summer enrichment camps, AAU teams and sports tournaments are so important.
Jones and his wife, the former Monica McFadden, share the JYRIC vision and are geared to boost its positive impact in the community.
Several programs are already in place for 2013. Summaries and signup information for the AAU basketball team, spring jam basketball tournament, summer enrichment camps, and the back-to-school fundraiser tournament are listed on jyric.com.
