Superior court decisions

The following decisions were reached in Lenoir County superior court in November, 2012. The presiding judge was the Hon. Paul L. Jones. Matters may be resolved as the result of a guilty plea or dismissal negotiated with the district attorney without a trial. Matters may also be resolved as the result of a trial during which the judge dismisses the case for insufficient evidence or renders a verdict of innocence or guilt. In any case in which a guilty plea or verdict is entered, sentencing is determined by the judge:
 
Edward NMNN Waters, two counts obtain property by false pretense, two counts conspiracy, guilty, issued prayer for judgement till later date.
 
Patrina Smith, obtain property by false pretense, guilty, sentenced to 6-8 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 36 months supervised probation.
 
Cleveland Edwards, driving while license revoked, guilty, sentenced to 120 days in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 18 months supervised probation.
 
Nicholas Stroud, assault on a female, guilty, sentenced to 60 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months probation; letter of apology to victim within 15 days; ordered to stay off of South Lenoir High School premises.
 
Chason Walker, assault on a female, guilty, sentenced to 60 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months probation; letter of apology to victim within 15 days; ordered to stay off of South Lenoir High School premises.
 
Bryan NMN McCoy, larceny, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 18 months supervised probation.
 
Michael NMN White, breaking/entering, kidnapping, assault by strangulation. Sentenced to 24-41 months in the Dept. of Correction and 6-17 months in the Dept. of Correction (consecutive).
 
Lorenzo Barrett, conspire to commit armed robbery, possess stolen firearm, guilty, sentenced to 24-41 months in the Dept. of Correction.
 
Candice Coston, possess stolen goods, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 120 days in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 12 months supervised probation.
 
Delvecchio Lovett, driving while license revoked, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months supervised probation.
 
Kristina NMN Sanders, 90-96 violation/possess schedule II, in presence of convicted felon, guilty, sentenced to 4-14 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 24 months supervised probation.
 
William Galloway, breaking/entering, guilty, sentenced to 40-60 months in the Dept. of Correction.
 
Carlos Fields, common law robbery, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 14-26 months in the Dept. of Corrections.
 
Jaboris Dawson, common law robbery, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 13-25 months in the Dept. of Corrections.
 
Matthew Wyche, larceny, guilty, sentenced to 5-15 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 48 months supervised probation; not allowed to go to Kmart during probation.
 
Tina Woodlief, driving while impaired, guilty, sentenced to 18-24 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 24 months supervised probation.
