Telling it like it is
The Rev. Shillena Parks tells it like it is as she portrays Ms. Sadie Pepper in a performance at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library, 510 N. Queen St.
The program is part of the library’s month-long celebration of Black History Month and is co-sponsored by Dixon Food Group, Inc. and McDonald’s of Kinston. The afternoon will provide Pepper’s heartwarming stories about life, love, soul food and the Black experience.
Parks’ portrayal of Pepper embodies countless strong women in Black communities where everyone visits her house on Sunday afternoons after church. She always has food ready to feed the body, mind and soul. Pepper mixes great food with life lessons that will make you smile, shake your head and laugh out loud. Even when she chastises, you still have to love Ms. Sadie Pepper.
Bring a hearty appetite for good, clean comedy as Ms. Sadie Pepper tells it exactly how she sees it.
