When the final tally of judges’ scores was in, Caroline Minges Carlyle was named Miss Neuse 2013 in competition Saturday night at the Grainger Hill Performing Arts Center.
Her successor, Miss Neuse 2012 Sierra Waller, crowned her following an evening of competition among 16 contestants. More than $4,600 was awarded in scholarships among all the participants in the scholarship program, sponsored by and benefiting Hugo Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
David Sawyer, chief meteorologist with WNCT Storm Team 9, emceed the program, directed by Reid Taylor, choreographed by Mandy Odom and chaired by Diane Howard.
Carlyle is a sophomore at Arendell Parrott Academy and is the daughter of Dr. Ricky and Holly Carlyle. She was sponsored by Minges Bottling Group, Inc.
Kristen Ervin was the first runner-up. The North Lenoir High School sophomore is the daughter of Ronnie and Cindy Ervin. She was sponsored by Christopher A. Rogerson Attorney at Law.
Jenny Delaney was the second runner-up. Also a Parrott sophomore, she is the daughter of Dale and Susan Delaney and was sponsored by Bojangles.
Courtney Hill was the third runner-up. Sponsored by West Masonry, she is a North Lenoir sophomore and the daughter of Kim and Ricky Hughes and the late Chris Hill.
