PreSchool ministry learns about farming

Jimmy Hill, president of Tull Hill Farms, visited HIS KIDS PreSchool Wednesday.

During his visit, he talked with the children about planting seeds and the importance of farming. The children range in age from 2 to 5 years old.

HIS KIDS is a ministry of Sharon United Methodist Church.

The East Group hires engineer

GREENVILLE — The East Group, a full-service engineering, architectural and surveying design firm, has added Douglas E. Stover as the firm’s newest senior electrical engineer.

Stover has more than 25 years of experience in the design of electrical power and low-voltage distribution systems. Before joining The East Group, Stover was based in Charlotte, where he was the electrical engineering director and project manager within a large architectural and engineering design firm. His project portfolio includes the design of clinical healthcare projects, central energy plants, 480V and medium voltage power distribution systems, emergency power systems, data centers, laboratories and pharmaceutical clean rooms.

“Doug’s rich experience in the design of electrical systems adds to the depth and breadth of engineering services that we currently offer to our Healthcare, Industrial and Governmental clients here in Eastern NC,” said Tony Khoury, managing principal of The East Group.

Stover’s past positions include engineering principal, senior electrical engineer and project manager. He has vast experience in all phases of engineering consulting, from initial master planning/concept phase thru completion of construction.

He is registered as a licensed professional engineer in 27 states, includind the entire southeast region of the U.S. He is a past presenter at regional and national healthcare design conferences and has published multiple articles within engineering journals.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University in mining engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in electrical engineering. He and his family are in the process of relocating to Greenville.

 

Bridge club names winners

The Fairfield Duplicate Bridge Club played the first session of a club championship Feb. 19.

The winners were: Joe Goldwasser and Pearl Schechter, first place; Eva Balknight and Jenny Holt, second; Barbara Sebald and Jane Hood, third; and Nancy Barwick and Edith Cahn, fourth.

The second session of the club championship will be played at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Center. The club welcomes and encourages all bridge players.
