Kiawanna Isler of Grifton flipped her car Tuesday morning on N.C. 58 near Cunningham Road. According to Chuck Coulombe of the Kinston Department of Public Safety, ‘She said when she was traveling south on N.C. 58 North, she said an animal, a dog, something ran in front of her, causing her to slam on the brakes. She ended up veering right and going into the ditch.’ Firefighters with the KDPS, including one from the Hugo Volunteer Fire Department, assisted with cutting Isler out of her Nissan Altima so she could be transported by Lenoir County EMS to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. She was cited for exceeding safe speed under road conditions, because of the rain.
