JONES COUNTY — Jones County Farm Bureau sponsored the Young Farmers and Ranchers of Jones County to do “Ag in the Classroom” at four different schools throughout Jones County during February. Schools in Maysville, Comfort, Trenton and Pollocksville welcomed the YF&R’s to inform and entertain the students.
The Jones County YF&R’s are Trent Scott, Jones County Farm Bureau Board member and owner of Scott Farm Organics out of New Bern; and Jacob Morgan, Jones County Cooperative Extension Crops.
Jones County Farm Bureau purchased four “Corn in the Story of Agriculture” books and four “Pigs & Pork in the Story of Agriculture” books, which were donated to the school libraries, along with stickers for all the students and teachers that said “I Met a Farmer Today!”
Scott read the “Story of Corn” book to second- through sixth-graders, and Morgan read the “Story of Pigs and Pork” to the same grades.
Jones County Farm Bureau and Jones County YF&R’s appreciate having this time in the schools to educate and inform young people for the future.
