A Lenoir County towing company works on attaching an 18-wheeler to a tow truck after an accident on Wednesday. The truck’s driver, Nicholas Malcolm, was charged with driving left of center after swerving a Pet Milk truck off the road on U.S. 258 going southbound towards the Jonestown Road intersection. State Highway Patrol Trooper D.W. Emory said the Ryder Truck Rental-owned freight liner ran off the road to the right, went left of center and turned over on the passenger side. He got the call around 10:30 a.m., and there were no injuries. A stretch of 258 was closed as the Deep Run Fire Department had to unload the milk cartons before the truck could be turned upright. Capt. Carlos Sanchez said his agency filled two dump trucks and headed for a nearby landfill. The detour was removed around 3 p.m. Wednesday, and traffic was not adversely affected by Malcolm’s accident.
