Noah Stroud went 3-for-4 and Justin Howard scattered three hits across six innings as South Lenoir defeated visiting Jacksonville Northside, 11-1, in six innings on Tuesday for its first conference win.
Brett Davis added two hits and two RBIs and Garrett Holland had two hits as the Blue Devils blew it open by scoring four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.
Howard gave up one unearned run on three hits, two walks and fanned six in the win.
South Lenoir (2-3, 1-2 East Central 2A) hosts country rival North Lenoir at 5 p.m. today.
SOFTBALL
SOUTH LENOIR 13, NORTHSIDE 0 5 INN.: At South Lenoir, the Blue Devils routed the visiting Monarchs in a conference game.
Madison Herring led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run then Madison Beyer added another homer in the fourth. Herring was 2-for-3 and scored three runs and Beyer was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Taylor Sandlin had a double and scored two runs. South Lenoir had 10 total hits.
Sandlin gave up one hit, struck out five and walked three in three innings in the win. Beyer fanned five and walked one in two innings of relief.
The Blue Devils (4-2, 2-1) host North Lenoir at 4:30 p.m. today.
PARROTT ACADEMY 14, DURHAM ACADEMY 5 6 INN.: At Parrott, the Patriots remained undefeated with the non-conference win.
Sarah Riley went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, Amanda Cannon had a hit and drove in three runs. Darci Basden pitched four innings and gave up two runs on three hits in the win.
Parrott (4-0) travels to Raleigh St. David’s School for a conference game on Thursday.
