A local man allegedly wanted to get back at his child’s mother after she swore out a warrant against him.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a green Dodge Durango carrying the primary victim, three other adults and a juvenile traveled along the 400 block of East Gordon Street. Frederick Antwon Cannon, 30, pulled in front of the Durango and stopped.

“(The victim) stated that he pulled in front of her vehicle, got out of his car and fired three shots from his gun at her vehicle,” Kinston Department of Public Safety spokesman Woody Spencer said.

Cannon turned himself in at the Lenoir County magistrate’s office and was confined at 2:15 a.m., Wednesday. According to the arrest report, he’s charged with five counts of aggravated assault and was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

Cannon made his first appearance in Lenoir County District Court Wednesday. His next court date is not known as of press time.
