It takes two

Two artists who are respected and sought after as individual performers are blending their talents in the fourth concert of the Wayne Community Concerts 2012-13 season.

Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell have resumés that include starring roles in Broadway musicals such as “Les Miserables,” “South Pacific” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

In Saturday’s performance, the artists — also husband and wife — will place their microphones side by side to present a duet of music and laughter to delight the audience. “It Takes Two” will turn “his” and “hers” into an evening of “ours.”

Kennedy is a Raleigh native who was personally chosen to perform by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Campbell is a tenor from Florida. Their individual and collective charisma and charm will exude from opening number to encore.

Their names are recognizable in Wilson and surrounding areas because of their bond to the Wilson and Barton College communities. This connection was even more deeply forged in 2009 when the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre opened on the Barton College campus.

The next concert will be “Pianafiddle” on May 11.
