A 20-year-old Kinston man wanted in Lenoir County and Jones County for breaking into residences was arrested in New Bern Thursday.

Cleo Majette Jr., 184 Gulick Drive, was arrested by the New Bern Police Department on Thursday on a minor disturbance charge. When officers from the NBPD ran Majette’s record in the statewide warrant system, it was discovered he was wanted in Lenoir County for breaking into a residence at 226 Williams Loop Road in the Kinston Mobile Home Park on April 15.

While deputies and detectives from the LCSO were processing the crime scene on April 15, fingerprints were found at the point of entry and believed to be left by the suspect. Those fingerprints were compared to ones the LCSO has on file in its in-house automated fingerprint database and the system made a match. Based on that evidence and information from the community, it led to a warrant being issued for Majette.

Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill praised the teamwork of his office — including detectives Josh Dunham and Chris Jenkins and deputy Aaron Shambeau — along with the community for the arrest.

“When the community and our people work together, cases get solved,” Hill stated.

Majette was also wanted by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office for similar crimes, said JCSO Capt. J.T. Eimer. Majette was held in the Craven County Jail under a $6,500 secured bond for the crimes on Thursday and was released earlier today on bond.
