Lenoir Community College isn’t finished yet.
The Lancers won a pair of elimination games on Sunday, beginning with a 4-1 win over Patrick Henry C.C. to start the day and an 8-4 win over Pasco-Hernando C.C. to end it to stay alive in the double-elimination NJCAA Division II Region X baseball tournament at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City.
Sixth-seeded LCC (33-19) will face Catawba Valley C.C. today at 3 p.m. in yet another elimination game. The winner goes on to face second-seeded Brunswick C.C. — the only team left without a loss — at 7 p.m. If Brunswick wins that game then it wins the tournament and represents the region in the junior college world series. If not, then an if-necessary game will be played at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
LCC entered the tournament having lost nine of its last 12 games and opened it with a 2-1 loss to Pasco-Hernando on Friday. Since then the Lancers have been hot, winning three straight by a combined score of 21-10.
Brunswick defeated CVCC 6-3 on Sunday to advance in the winner’s bracket.
CVCC, ranked 10th nationally, is the defending region champion.
