From the Kinston Dept. of Public Safety:

On Monday around 2:25 p.m., members of the Kinston Department of Public Safety responded to a shots fired call near the intersection of East Lenoir Avenue and Raleigh Street, Kinston. Upon arrival, officers found a black male in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Witnesses told officers the shot was fired from a white Chevy Impala. The suspects were described as two black females — in the front seat — and three black males in the back seat. The vehicle reportedly has tinted windows, with the back window featuring large bubbles as if it was a bad tint job.

The victim — whose status was unknown as of press time — was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to call Kinston Public Safety at 252-939-3160.

Update: On Tuesday morning Maj. Greg Thompson of the KDPS said the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Vidant Medical Center on Monday and released.
