A Tuesday morning shooting at a Kinston parking lot resulted in three vehicles being damaged.
According to a report obtained from the Kinston Dept. of Public Safety, a 26-year-old male told responding officers two black males started shooting at him as he walked in the parking lot of building 11 on Simon Bright Court, Kinston around 12:54 a.m. on Tuesday.
The victim stated he ran and ducked behind a vehicle to shield himself from the gunfire. The victim also stated at one point he removed his shirt and reached for a gun in his possession, but dropped it and started running again. No injuries were reported.
"We haven't established a motive yet, but we are following up on what we believe to be credible leads," said Maj. Greg Thompson of the KDPS. "This shooting is not connected with the shooting that occurred in the Mitchel Wooten area on Monday."
Officers observed four bullet holes in a silver Avalon, one bullet hole in a blue Taurus, and one bullet hole in a silver Impala. Damages to the vehicles were estimated at $1,100.
Officials said no further details could be released since the investigation is ongoing.
