Brandon Ingram is on the rise.
The rising Kinston High junior was ranked 12th nationally on Wednesday as ESPN released its updated ESPN 60 rankings, which rank the top 60 individuals of the class of 2015 regardless of position.
The ranking lists Ingram as a five-star recruit and has him as the fourth best shooting guard that will graduate in 2015.
Ingram, who averaged 12.7 points and four rebounds per game as a sophomore, has already received scholarship offers from N.C. State and Wake Forest and scored 12 points and had three blocks in the state championship win in March.
While being ranked 12th is nice, there are still 11 spots ahead of Ingram to attain.
“Well I’m not No. 1 so it’s still some space for improvement,” Ingram told The Free Press Thursday in a text message. “I try to forget about my past accomplishments so I can stay humble.
“I’m humble but hungry.”
While the ranking can and most likely will change over the next two years, Ingram is currently listed six spots higher than where Kinston native Reggie Bullock landed in the final ESPN rankings for the class of 2010.
Bullock, who is currently on an NBA team workout tour in preparation for the June 27 draft, was ranked 18th overall and listed as the third best shooting guard heading into his time at UNC. He finished high school as a four-star recruit according to ESPN.
Ingram’s overall rating of 94 is currently two points behind No. 1 overall recruit Ivan Rabb, a power forward from Oakland, Calif. He is also the highest rated player from North Carolina.
Ingram is currently attending the annual National Basketball Players Association Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va., which showcases some of the best basketball talent in the country.
