The Southwood High School Class of 1963 gathered at 6 p.m. June 28 at King’s Restaurant for its 50th class reunion. Forty-one attended and out of those, 21 were classmates.

Linda Smith Dawson, class salutatorian, welcomed the group. Richard Paurice Dawson gave the invocation.

Following dinner, classmates shared their life’s highlights. Linda Dawson led a memorial for deceased classmates — Charles Heath, Susan Loftin, Jerry Rouse, Keith Taylor, Danny Thompson and Dorothy Tilghman Daughety. As the names were called, Carolyn Williams West lit candles in their memory.

The group decided to hold another reunion in three years, and Rita Johnson Wood, John Thomas Phillips and Kenneth Walker were elected to co-chair the next reunion.

Door prizes were won by Wood, Sandra Sasser Seltzer and Richard Dawson. Phillips gave the benediction. The 50th reunion was organized by Linda and Richard Dawson, John and Darlene Phillips and Carolyn and Neil West.

After the dinner and ceremonies at King’s, Wood invited everyone to her home for a social.
