PINK HILL — The third and final suspect sought in a Pink Hill methamphetamine lab investigation is behind bars.

Tuesday, investigators with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office — along with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Pitt County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation — took Pink Hill resident Lorne Howard into custody. Authorities found Howard, 45, at an address off U.S. 264 in Beaufort County.

“The community, my officers, and other law enforcement agencies are to be credited with the termination of this particular meth operation,” Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill said in a statement. “We will continue to tap all of our resources to rid the county of illicit drug manufacturing and sales.”

Howard’s charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession or distribution of meth precursors.

He was booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
