A wreck involving an 18-wheeler and 2003 Honda four-door car in Snow Hill Monday night left both vehicles with serious damage. There were only minor injuries to the driver of the car and no injuries to the driver of the 18-wheeler.

The accident occurred at 5:40 p.m. in front of Beaman’s restaurant at 341 N.C. 58 in Snow Hill, N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper R.D. Carraway said.

Tristan Meador, 22, of Statonsburg, was traveling south from Snow Hill when he crossed the center line and hit the left-front tire of an 18-wheeler driven by Erin Hamedi of Tennessee, Carraway said.

After the vehicles hit, the 18-wheeler came to a stop when the breaks locked up, and the car was knocked off the side of the road, Carraway said.

“The truck was empty so it was able to stop quickly,” Carraway said.

The car’s said value estimated at $8,500 was totaled, Carraway said.

“The left front side was pushed back and the damage ran down the whole left side of the car,” Carraway said.

The 18-wheeler was estimated to have about $30,000 in damages after the front axle was knocked out, said Carraway.

Meador was transported by Greene County Emergency Medical Services to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, Randy Skinner, Greene County Emergency Management director, said. Hamedi did not suffer any injuries.

Meador was charged with driving left of center, Carraway said.

Snow Hill and Hookerton volunteer fire departments, Greene County Emergency Management, N.C. DOT and Greene County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the incident.
