Almost 65 people from 25 churches gathered at The Gate Wednesday for the monthly meeting of the Association of Congregations for Kinston-Lenoir County. This was a special day as it was the kick off of the 11th annual Lenoir County Prayer Walk.
Between now and Oct. 30, residents from many different churches will walk every street in Lenoir County praying for God to bless this land and the people in it. All are encouraged to pray for their corner of the county.
The AOC has worked to promote unity and partnership among the congregations of Lenoir County for 25 years. The Rev. Randy Outland, pastor of Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, is the chairman of the Executive Committee.
The second Wednesday of every month, there is an open meeting for all pastors and interested people with lunch, community updates and prayer for the county. The next AOC meeting will be at noon Oct. 9 at Woodmen Community Center.
