Two Greensboro men have been arrested and charged with taking $50,000 worth of socks from a HanesBrands Inc. distribution center in Kernersville.

Police in Kernersville said the arrests were part of an investigation of the loss of about $2 million in merchandise in the last two years.

Forty-eight-year-old Byron Keith Kearney and 32-year-old Henry Gerard Jackson were arrested Sunday and charged with felony larceny and felony breaking and entering. Lt. John Shelor said officers had been working with the company's loss prevention department. Shelor said a gate guard let two men in a large truck into the facility. The men left with a truckload of socks and were stopped a short time later.

It was not clear if the men have legal representation.
