The North Carolina branch of the NAACP is planning a mass march around the governor's home to protest Republican-backed voting changes that critics say are designed to make it harder to vote for groups that lean toward Democrats.

The latest Moral Monday protest is planned for Monday afternoon at Halifax Mall, the field behind the Legislative Building in Raleigh. Organizers plan to lead marchers to the state's Executive Mansion, two blocks to the east.

Gov. Pat McCrory has touted the new election law that includes requiring voters to present specific kinds of government-issued identification at the polls. The measure McCrory signed last month has more than 40 other provisions, including ending same-day voter registration and trimming early voting by a week.
