Kinston’s junior small forward Brandon Ingram tops the latest ESPN Super 60 rankings for the state of North Carolina as the No. 1 recruit.

Ingram was pinned No. 13 overall in the Super 60 ranks.

Already having six scholarship offers — including North Carolina—under his wing, he said sustaining humility will be important as he sorts through his next two years of high school.

“I think the next thing will be a decision that has to be made that will change my whole life, so staying humble is important,” Ingram told The Free Press Thursday. “I don’t feel like I’m on top of anybody. I just go through day by day as a normal student just like everybody else.”

Ingram said he’s spent the summer working on his game and hopes to improve his team when Kinston’s season starts in November. The Vikings are coming off a NCSHAA 2A State Champion title from March.

Kinston coach Perry Tyndall said the rankings and offers have heated things up for the young forward.

“It just shows what a talent he is,” Perry said of Ingram. “His work ethic with talent has enabled him to be put in the position he’s in now. … He’s not settling where he’s at and that’s the special thing about him.”

Perry added many schools would love to score the driven Ingram, as he’s already gotten offers from UNC, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Minnesota.
