Law enforcement responded to a report Friday of a suspicious person at Lenoir Community College, but determined there was no threat.

The LCC Early College High School was briefly on lockdown, though the rest of the LCC campus operated normally.

LCC President Brantley Briley sent out an email to faculty, staff and students less than an hour after the 12:40 p.m. report that campus police and the Kinston Department of Public Safety investigated the matter.

Police identified the individual in question and conducted an interview, and according to Briley, concluded there “was no sighting of a weapon and no indication of a threat to anyone at the college.”
