Two teenagers tried, but failed, to rob a woman of her mobile phone Thursday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m., and was reported to police shortly before 2 p.m.
“(The victim) was walking on a path at Lenoir Memorial Hospital when two thinly built black males, approximately 15-17 years of age — both of them wearing black hoodies with blue-in-color strap bags on their backs — ran up to her and attempted to take her iPhone from her hand,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety.
According to the KDPS report, the victim was able to keep control of her phone and the suspects ran away down North Herritage Street toward Doctors Drive.
“She did say the suspects had originally walked from the Rightway (gas station and convenience store) to the hospital,” Spencer said.
The case is under further investigation.
