An unwitting victim opened his front door Nov. 20 only to find a handgun pointed at him.
“Officers responded to the apartment and (the victim) told the officers somebody knocked on the door – when (the victim) answered the door, the man forced his way in the residence and pointed a handgun at him and ordered (the victim) into the bathroom,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety.
He continued, “(The suspect) took his wallet – (the officer) said it contained $100. (The suspect) left the wallet there, but (the victim) stayed in the bathroom for a while after the gentleman left.”
The incident occurred about 20 minutes after midnight in the 1200 block of Tower Hill Road.
In addition to the cash, taken in the robbery was a .22-caliber Marlin Greenfield Model 60 rifle valued at $200, a $200 10-karat white gold necklace, a $100 27-inch JVC television and a $60 DVD player.
Investigators have no suspects at this time.
